The Department of Psychology of Development and Socialization Processes (DPPSS) was established by the Rectoral Decree of 30 December 1982 and has been active since 1 January 1983; since 2011 it has been part of the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology. It has 16 full professors, 25 associate professors, 4 permanent researchers, 9 fixed-term researchers (type A and B), 2 RTT, 1 emeritus professor; it has 11 technical and administrative personnel in addition to the Delegated Administrative Manager. The Department also includes non-structured staff (PhD students, research fellows, contractors), who contribute to research activities; Scientific visitors and visiting professors/researchers from other Italian and foreign universities are guests of the department. The Department operates in three areas: Research, which includes a vast range of studies that include laboratory experiments, empirical research in the different contexts of social life, through the use and validation of innovative tools, and the adoption of analysis techniques for complex data; Teaching, whose 1st, 2nd and 3rd level offering is designed by combining a solid generalist preparation with the operational skills conferred by the various disciplines present in the three-year and master's degree courses; the Third Mission, through the offer of consultancy services, an ideal link between academic research and the general population.
The departmental structure, which has six laboratories and five consultancy services for the general population, is currently divided into two offices in Rome, in Via dei Marsi 78 (at the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology building) and in Via Carlo Fea 2 (at Villa Mirafiori).
