Quality Assurance
The Department has developed a structured and
formalized Quality Assurance system, coordinated by the departmental Quality Assurance Management Committee, which works in close
cooperation with the Teaching Committee, the Research Committee, and the Third
Mission Committee, according to a structured cycle (monitoring, verification, analysis of critical issues, corrective
actions, verification of the effectiveness of corrective actions).
The Quality Assurance Management Committee is responsible for activities related to the
quality assurance of teaching, research, and Third Mission activities carried out by the
Department. It is composed of faculty members selected from among full and associate professors and researchers, the
Department Director, the Departmental Teaching Coordinator, and the Departmental Research Coordinator.
Members: Mauro Giacomantonio, Patrizia Sposetti, Anna Di Norcia, Andrea Chirico, Fiorenzo
Laghi, Marco Dessì, and Elisa Marsico.
Following the Strategic Support and Educational Offering Area's memo of November 11, 2025, which
initiated the Department Review by the QA Management Commission on the basis
of a document containing the mandatory members and "other
members" of the Commission, the QA Management Commission has been integrated with new
members: the departmental scientific advisor for the Third Mission at the University, some
members of the departmental Research Commission and the departmental Teaching
Commission.
The current composition is therefore as follows:
Mandatory members:
Department Director: Fiorenzo Laghi
Responsible for the Review Document: Mauro Giacomantonio (also a member of the
AQ Commission)
Teaching Officer: Marco Dessì (also a member of the Teaching Committee)
Research Officer: Elisa Marsico (also a member of the Research Committee and the
Third Mission Committee)
Student Representative: Anna Stanzione (also a member of the Teaching
Committee)
Other members:
Giorgio Asquini (departmental scientific advisor for the Third Mission at the University)
Anna Di Norcia (member of the Research Committee and the Teaching Committee)
Patrizia Sposetti (member of the Teaching Committee)
Giordana Szpunar (member of the Research Committee and the Teaching Committee)
Ilaria Bufalari (member of the Research Committee)
Andrea Chirico (member of the Research Committee and Departmental Scientific Coordinator
for University Research)
Michele Vecchione (Member of the Research Committee)
Regarding QA processes, the QA Management Committee has the following tasks:
drafting the Department's Three-Year Strategic Plan, defining the Research, Teaching,
and Third Mission/Social Impact objectives to be pursued, and identifying and implementing
the actions needed to achieve them, as well as the necessary resources.
The Department shares the strategic objectives defined at the University level and also adopts
any specific objectives consistent with its scientific and cultural vocations.
The QA Management Committee also monitors activities and verifies the degree
of actual achievement of objectives, preparing an annual Monitoring Report
through a self-assessment of the methods of implementing the
Research, Teaching, and Third Mission/Social Impact activities and the results achieved compared to those
expected.
It also identifies strengths and areas for improvement and proposes any corrective actions.
The review activity is documented in an Annual Report.
The Department conducts a self-assessment during the Periodic Accreditation visit
(if the Department is selected by ANVUR).
