CONSULTING AND TELEPSYCHOLOGY SERVICE FOR OPERATORS IN HUMANITARIAN CRISIS CONTEXTS

Responsible: Prof. Alessandra Talamo

Activity

Today there are many professionals who find themselves operating in contexts of humanitarian crises: doctors, psychologists, nurses, journalists and operators in the world of information and communication, cooperation and logistics professionals.
Operating in humanitarian crisis contexts frequently exposes you to stressful working conditions, contexts of relative personal safety and frequent exposure to potentially traumatizing events. Rarely in the contexts of humanitarian crises, however, can these professionals easily access professional psychological support.
The service intends to respond to the specific needs of in situ psychological consultancy for professionals who find themselves working in these conditions, offering these operators the possibility of accessing remote consultancy, therapy, and support before departure or upon return.
Two types of intervention are envisaged to guarantee both individual support to the person and opportunities for the prevention of stress and burnout for operators in humanitarian crisis contexts.
